my view on reservation part 1

Do you recall the movement staged by "youth for equality" in kolkata a few years back? Their demand was simple. They wanted an equality of merit in admission to institutions. I was young at that time and didn't quite understand their motive. But now, after passing the 10+2 level, I understand how destructive and fatal is the reservation system for India.
It can be unanimously accepted that most of the "general caste" are furious with this system and its needless to say that GEN castes out number the RESERVED castes. This fury won't ever subside from those deprived general castes. Now lets move fifty years ahead. Its highly probable that at that stage all the senior GENERAL castes will boycott the service scheduled caste doctors engineers and even teachers. A teacher of mine was once joking with me,"U know Sahil, you will live to see a day when a severely distressed sick person,on his deathbed, will insist on seeing a GENERAL CASTE doctor even if a SCHEDULED CASTE doctor is available at that instant."
I laughed away at that day but now I see how significant was his statement.Want a proof? Here it is
A rank card of a boy who got admitted in medical courses this year read:
GENERAL RANK- 1800
SC RANK- 110
He is presently studying in a top medical college. But note here that his merit wise rank makes him ineligible even for a B PHARM course and that total medical seats add up to 1125. So an ineligible poor student of biological science takes up a seat in a medical college whereas a more meritorious boy of rank 850 is left out. WHY? because he is born as a GENERAL CASTE
Do you note how many times the word "Caste" has been used within this few sentences? It feel weird that in 2008,in ultra modern age India is back to its medieval practice of judging a person by his social status and not by his talent. Do you still doubt why India is still a DEVELOPING nation with 1/7th of the worlds population?
Unless India comes out of its reverie and make education unbiased, unless India frees its higher education from the shackles of reservation she will continue being a (under)developing nation who depends on other nation for almost everything.
I have no time today to continue so in part 2 I will try to explain the reason behind the reservation. With a pity I recall that b4 1947 it was English rulers who prevented India from taking "JAGATASABHAR SRESHTHA ASAN" and 60 years after independence its the INDIAN rulers who are preventing India from doing the same.
Let me know your criticism over this post
